Any tips for a beginner on learning classical guitar so I wont give up easily?

I keep giving up and the finger exercises are very frustrating because it%26#039;s repeating and doing the same thing over and over again..

are there any tips so I won%26#039;t give up and instead have fun doing it?

thanks

Find inspiration, and once in a while take a break, dont constantly practice practice. and what i mean for inspiration like a goal. for instance mine is to play Dragon Force-through the fire and the flames. trust me its impossible for me but i try anyways. you can also practice with a friend even if they dont play the same instrument.

The guitar is a nice instrument. What I would suggest it to try and play music that you like in-between courses or get The Beatles songbook.

Classical gets boring but it doesn;t mean you have to stick to classic music. I play pop on my classical and in the studio , I use my electric.

That might be another option for you, get an electric guitar.

A question about my guitar amp?

Ok, I have a pretty decent practice amp. Its a fender 15 watts. However, I have trouble controlling it to get the sound I want. I can never get it just right because I dont understand the knobs and stuff. Aswell, if I want to play professionally do i need more than an amp such as a distorter? Can someone tell me about the different inputs for a setup
A question about my guitar amp?
The little Fender amp is ice. If you want a bassey sound, then , turn up the bass and if you need more highs, then turn up the treble and lower the bass.

If it has a mid tone button, that should be set in the middle.

A disotrion is a pedal used by mostly every guitarist. That is a nice add on as well as a Digital delay.
A question about my guitar amp?
Personally with a cheap practice amp it%26#039;s not worth any pedals in my opinion. for the price of your amp plus pedals you could get a decent little tube amp. It would add millions to your tone and sound.
Reply:First of all learn how to play without distortion. You would be amazed of how many musicians hide behind effects boxes to hide their lack of talent. To be famous you have to have the right look at the moment and slick production, to be a professional you have to know how to play. The greatest recognition does%26#039;nt

come from a audience, it comes from your peers.

Ibanez, Jackson, ESP, Dean, Shecter... Forgetting any others?

I%26#039;m looking to buy a serious metal guitar. I%26#039;ve already checked out Ibanez, Jackson, ESP, Dean, and Shecter, but I want to make sure I%26#039;m not missing any other great guitar companies... any other suggestions?

Ibanez, Jackson, ESP, Dean, Shecter... Forgetting any others?
umm Paul Reed Smith is one of the most versatile guitars i own, i can play anything from blues, to metal, to classic rock on it just by changing the pickup selectors...
Reply:Gibson- Les Paul
Reply:Here is the scope.

Ibanez is a nice guitar. I own an old 1963 Gibson Les Paul. I recently purchased a Jackson to do more heavy metal tunes in the studio.

The 24 fret and active electronic of Jackson and the response blew me away. The neck has a low action and an instant response to finger-tapping.

ESP is nice as well as Dean. I also bought a Shecter 5 -string bass which also has active electronics. Sometimes, i need the bass for special runs. This bass is awesome. I can%26#039;t say anything about the guitar since I never tried one.

But if they are like the bass I tried, then I gather the guitar should be very nice.

My preference....sorry !!!! Jackson ....The floyd rose whammy bar and locked nut keepts this guitar in perfect pitch.

How do you hold a long note on a Saxophone?

I%26#039;m currently playing the Tenor Sax and I was wondering how I may be able to hold a really long note on my sax.

I know that there%26#039;s suppose to be some breathing thing to it but I sorta need details.

I%26#039;s just like to know how I can do it.
How do you hold a long note on a Saxophone?
Practice breathing exercises to strengthen your lungs and diaphragm- that will increase your ability over time.

To start, use your stomach muscles/diaphragm rather than your throat to support the air. Don%26#039;t tighten up your mouth too much because that will cut off the air, although if you%26#039;re too loose, then it will sound bad and airy. Take deep breaths and blow them out slowly without puffing out your cheecks.

It takes practice to get the right feel and develop the muscle memory.

Try playing scales and holding out each note for 20 seconds (or however long you%26#039;re ready for) and increase over time. That will improve your tone as well. Hope this helps. :)
How do you hold a long note on a Saxophone?
take a long BIG! breath BLOWWWWWWWWWWWWWW!
Reply:Pick a note that is fairly comfortable to play and hold it out as long as you possibly can. Take a breath and do it again. Keep this up for at least half an hour every day. You won%26#039;t see immediate results, because this is a skill that takes time. Just keep at it.

There is a technique for playing %26quot;never-ending%26quot; notes called circular breathing. Using this technique, you breathe in through your nose to get more air while you%26#039;re playing. This is a very advanced technique, but unless you%26#039;re playing professionally (and possibly even if you are) I doubt it would ever be necessary. If you really want to learn, though, I would suggest trying to find a clinic; this isn%26#039;t really the kind of thing you can learn from online instructions.

I would suggest that you stick to the old-fashioned method: practice, practice, practice.

Determining drum head size and rim size?

Ok. This may be dumb question, but how do you determine the what size head and rim will fit a particular drum? I want to buy them online so I don%26#039;t have a way of visually determining the sizes I need. I need to buy a bottom rim and head for my 10%26quot; tom. Does the size of the drum (width) correspond to the size head and rim I need? For example, a 10%26quot; tom would take a 10%26quot; head and rim?

Any help would be great!

Thanks!

Low D "jumping" on tenor sax?

I%26#039;ve played Bari sax for four years and I%26#039;m being made to play tenor for marching band this year. I just got a Selmer TS500, and when I play low notes (specifically D and E) sometimes it will %26quot;jump%26quot; like it will sound as if I%26#039;m playing with another tenor and I%26#039;m horribly out of tune. Sometimes it will make constant waves, sometimes it will just do it a couple times, and sometimes it will make a solid tone. Tonguing seems to make it do it sometimes. The instrument is brand new, I%26#039;ve checked for leaks and cant find any. I can play Alto and Bari fine so I dont THINK it%26#039;s my embouchure but I could be wrong. Anyone ever had this before or have any idea whats wrong?
Low D %26quot;jumping%26quot; on tenor sax?
i%26#039;m not going to even pretend to know what i%26#039;m talking about but i have something of an idea. its the same way with me on french horn i just started playing it last year for band just like you. i%26#039;m a natural trumpet player but i got switched. what i found is that one one instrument the amount of air that use to work might not on another instrument. it takes so much more air on french horn that you wouldn%26#039;t believe. you have to mostly practice on finding that note thats in tune in your lower register and think about what you%26#039;re doing to hit it and keep it there and practice on what you did. that often works. mostly you have to keep the flow of air strong and steady so that you get a good controlled sound. on sax-any sax- its all about controll baby. there%26#039;s also the deal with you know...the instrument might be wrong ha ha. some times new things are broken
Low D %26quot;jumping%26quot; on tenor sax?
2 things;

1. air speed (control %26amp; support)

2. have a technician check it for leaks, most new saxes do not come perfectly adjusted.

I have a deep, low voice. how can i make it higher in pitch?
You really can%26#039;t change it much. The pitch of your voice is determined by the thickness of your vocal cords and the speed at which they vibrate. That%26#039;s not something you can alter. the best way would be to find a voice coach who works with singers.
